Sorrel(Rumex acetosa) French sorrel is a cousin to our native wood sorrel. Though not botanically related, the sorrels share the common name as well as a tart, lemony flavor. This flavor, a result of the oxalic acid found in the leaves, makes sorrel an ideal counterpart for the rich sauces in French cooking.
